I am a historian specializing in globalization and environmental history in the early modern period. My book, "London: The Selden Map and the Making of a Global City, 1549-1689" (Chicago: 2014) is based on my discovery in 2008 of the Selden Map at the Bodleian Library, Oxford, the earliest known maritime mechant map of East Asia showing Chinese trading routes. In 2015, along with Sari Gilbert (SCAD), I ran a successful Kickstarter to fund production of the board game Fujian Trader based on the Selden Map. I am currently developing a digital humanities application "The Selden Map Atlas" which will work in tandem with a curriculum and the board game.
